The Orion 2026 is a novel benchmark dataset generated within a network environment utilizing a Spine-Leaf topology. Modern cybersecurity relies on Network Intrusion Detection Systems powered by Machine and Deep Learning to identify threats. The development of robust detection models is often hindered by the limitations of existing benchmark datasets, which frequently suffer from traffic class imbalance, poor documentation, and pervasive mislabeling. The Orion 2026 incorporates 120 hours of traffic that mirrors real-world diurnal volume variations and includes single-source and distributed Denial-of-Service attack scenarios with varying attacker-victim cardinalities. Using a label-free exploratory analysis over the benign captures alone, 17 mutually non-redundant features were selected and validated by five detection models spanning the supervised and semi-supervised paradigms.
