Abstract

This paper presents the data of tests with an internal combustion engine MWM adapted to Otto cycle, coupled to an electric generator with a capacity of 50 kVA, using natural gas . It is presented the characteristics and efficiency of the set for the purpose of comparison with its future operation using synthesis gas produced by a gasifier (biomass gas), to evaluate the feasibility of applying the system in remote locations, where biomass is available and system for transmitting electricity from other generation systems hampered by distance. The performance of the assembly was monitored at 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% of its power capacity presented in increasing order of load voltages 220, 220, 221, 221 and 222 volts and currents 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 amperes respectively for the load of 0, 9,5, 19, 27,5 and 38 kW the latter being the maximum output developed by the group.
