Last week Vicky - who plays DI Kate Fleming in the BBC police drama - also paid tribute to Martin on their joint birthday.

Sharing an on-set throwback snap with the actor - who plays DS Steve Arnott - she revealed they're planning to throw a huge party to mark the occasion when lockdown is over.

Sad: The actress appeared to be pining for her days filming with her co-stars, after production for series six was halted due to the lockdown

Vicky wrote: 'I mean who better to share my birthday with than my partner in crime!!!! @mrmartincompston.

'We were planning a party with us being together filming @bbclineofduty but we'll have an even bigger one now when we get back to it!

'I can't tell you how special today already is!! Feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Enjoy the sunshine everyone & Happy VE Day! Huge love to you all and stay safe.'

Fantastic: Line Of Duty's Vicky McClure paid tribute to co-star Martin Compston on their JOINT birthday on Instagram on Friday and they are planning a huge party when coronavirus is over

Filming for Line Of Duty was suspended back in March just weeks before the nation was placed in coronavirus lockdown, as much of the television industry ground to halt due to the pandemic.

While Vicky is holed up in the UK, Martin is back home in Vegas with his wife Tianna, who hails from there and the rest of their family.

He said on Good Morning Britain back in March: 'I was very lucky. I was just in my flat on a Saturday night, learning my lines for the week ahead.

'The news came through that Trump had suspended all flights from the UK, so I think within 12 hours I was on a flight.

There for her: Martin told Good Morning Britain in March that he rushed to Vegas to be with his US wife amid COVID:19 pandemic after show's filming was suspended

'I was on a production that I've been on for a long time and our producers are friends and understand, and they said to me, 'You've got to put family first'.'

'At that point it was a very strange atmosphere because we knew we were going to stop at some point, but we had to follow government guidelines and at the time I left we hadn't stopped, so I just made it back by the skin of my teeth.'

Joking about his character's attire, he said: 'The waistcoat has been firmly put away.'

Talking about his flight, he said: 'It was a bit of a hairy journey over. The BA cabin crew were fantastic. Rules and destinations seemed to be changing by the minute, but they eventually got us home.'

Worries: The actor said he rushed back to the US after President Donald Trump introduced a travel ban, but did manage to reunite with her (pictured in December 2018)
