Program/Course:  French Language and Culture

Overview: The goals of the French Language and Culture Program are to Literature program is to qualify professionals as translators and researchers in the linguistics field, and proficiency in translation and literary studies in the French Language. The Program provides students with the opportunity to learn and develop a critical view about French language and its relationship with both French and Brazilian cultures as well as Portuguese language. There is also an emphasis on studies and translation practices through reading literary works in the French language, and identifying authors through artistic and literary movements. The students also have the possibility to go deeper into the topics that interest them the most by participating in the projects led by professors from the Foreign Languages Department.

Length: 4 years

Award granted: Bachelor’s degree

Language of instruction: French is the language of instruction for most French Language and Culture Program. However, some courses are conducted entirely in Portuguese.
