The NEAA (Center for Afro-Asian Studies), an agency of the State University of Londrina, was created on August 25, 1985, in order to conduct studies and research related to non-hegemonic cultures, promoting education directed to issues regarding to these cultures, design and implement projects aimed at inclusion in the University and other sectors of groups historically discriminated against and support public policies aimed at overcoming the racial and social disparities; has been consolidating in recent years as a core with capillary coverage for, among other priorities, to implement the Law 10.639/03 in the schools and support inclusion policies aimed at graduate students at UEL.
Students and teachers of the university, primary and secondary education, public administrators, social workers involved with the issue of racial and non-hegemonic cultures (just like the Asians) have been the target audience of the activities of NEAA.
In addition to the extension projects, the Center has occupied in systematic studies and research, relying on publications that give visibility to the race issue and the non-Western cultures in its many and varied dimensions, thus contributing to the coexistence of knowledge plural.
