Security Management and Quantification Research Group (SEC-MQ) carries out research in development of innovative methods for attack prevention/detection and cybersecurity quantification. In the area of attack detection and prevention, we have been proposing solutions for automated analysis of huge amounts of alerts and detection of attacks related to emerging networking paradigms such as Internet of Things, Software Defined Networking, and Future Internet. Regarding cybersecurity quantification, to understand the actions that lead to successful attacks and also how they can be mitigated, we have been seeking to identify and measure the factors that influence both attackers and victims. Quantifying security is particularly important to construct relevant metrics that support the decisions that need to be made to protect systems and networks. SEC-MQ team is mostly composed of researchers from the State University of Londrina (Brazil) and the Federal University of Uberlândia (Brazil).
